What does this mean for SportingPulse?
This is an exciting time for grassroots sport with News Limited showing massive support to the SportingPulse business – including the injection of significant resource. This will enable exciting new initiatives and an increase in staff resource to better service the grassroots sporting community.
What about Nick Maywald, the founder and current CEO?
After 13 years setting up and leading the SportingPulse business, Nick proactively supported News Limited in a search for a new CEO to help take the business to the next level. He felt the timing was right to appoint a new CEO to lead the business through the next exciting growth phase.
Both the additional investment and the appointment of a new CEO have been made under the proviso that Nick commits to remain in the business for the next 3 years as Director of Innovation. This will include integration with and leveraging elite sport broadcast and content functionality through both Fox Sports and News Limited Sport.
