World Masters Games success

The SportingPulse-inspired online results service for the World Masters Games in Melbourne last month was an outstanding success, with 1,766,190 page impressions.

The IT industry uses page impressions as a guide to the volume of people checking information on a site.

Almost 1.5 million page impressions were recorded during the week of the games (October 5-13).

Games organisers describe their event as "the biggest multi-sport festival on earth". Up to 20,000 people aged from 25 to 100 competed in individual and team events.

Softball drew the biggest audience with 270,472 page impressions, followed by basketball with 222,148.

Swimming (pool), netball, hockey, football (soccer) and rowing each drew in excess of 100,000 page impressions.

A total of 29 sports had individual sites established under the SportingPulse implementation project.

SportingPulse staff also provided website editing training to officials of each sport and day-to-day support before, during and after the games.
