Australian Rugby League Development
"SportingPulse provided a very good web solution that was integrated with the membership and competition. A one stop shop!" Paul Walker, Communications Manager, ARLD www.leaguenet.com.au
ARLD Business Function
The ARLD was formed at the end of the 1999 season at the conclusion of the ARL/Super League war. The charter of the ARLD is to promote and develop Junior Rugby League from the ages of 6 to 18 years nationally. The ARLD employs 40 full time development officers around Australia, to assist with the implementation of new and existing programs for schools and Junior Leagues.
Before SportingPulse.....
Before deploying SportingPulse Sportzware solutions, the ARLD did not have a national IT solution. Mr Paul Walker, Communications Manager for the ARLD points out "Each State body had their own system, which was not intergrated with each other. There was no National approach to membership management, web solution, or competition management".
Why SportingPulse?
"Our members wanted a system that was user friendly and gave them the ability to control their member's data, without fear of its online location and communal accessibility" says Paul.
After previous failed attempts to implement a national solution, it was imperative that the system was a success, providing value for the broader Rugby League community as well as the national and state bodies. "SportingPulse provided a very good web solution that was integrated with the membership and competition. A one stop shop!"
National database with ARLD ID for each member
The finished product for the ARLD was the establishment of a national database that would stay updated as the clubs and leagues managed their information at the grassroots level. It was critical that the solution provided value at this level, this is what separated SportingPulse from the rest.
The core benefit of the national database is firstly to provide accurate membership numbers, which has large marketing benefits; and secondly to provide the ARLD with `career tracking' ability for each member in the country by the use of a unique ID.
Improved communication for members
"The website has enabled us to provide a cheap, convenient, user friendly, method for our members to improve their communication with each other." -Paul Walker
Positive response from members and peers
Members have embraced the new system after some initial concerns due to a prior IT solution that did not deliver the goods. Paul Walker states that members have accepted the system "With some reservations at first as a result of our failed attempt with another system. However once word spread the acceptance has been very positive, and people are welcome of the provision of the technology."
Paul has also received positive feedback from his peers "The Australian Sports Commission invited us to present LeagueNet to the Sport Development Workshops in Sydney and Melbourne late in 2003. There were over 30 other sports represented at these workshops who were all very interested in the approach taken by Rugby League."
"Many board members from State and National bodies within Rugby League, have been very impressed with LeagueNet, providing good support for the project."
SportingPulse also provides Sportzware Solutions via Australian Rugby League Development Senior Rugby League Associations right around Australia.
